Find oversized images on your page
Fetches every image on the page, measures its bytes and dimensions, and lists the ones that are bigger than they need to be: PNGs that should be WebP, 4,000-pixel photos displayed at 400, images with no width and height that shift the layout. Sorted by the kilobytes you would save.

Questions
How big should an image be?
As big as it is displayed, times the device pixel ratio you care about. A 400-pixel wide thumbnail needs an 800-pixel source at most. A full-width hero rarely needs more than 1,600 to 2,000 pixels.
WebP or AVIF?
Both beat JPEG and PNG by 25 to 50 percent. AVIF is smaller but slower to encode; WebP is supported everywhere now. Serve AVIF with a WebP fallback through a <picture> element if your build can do it, otherwise WebP alone is fine.
Will fixing images change my search ranking?
Images are the largest part of most pages and the usual reason Largest Contentful Paint fails. Core Web Vitals are a ranking signal, so yes, when the page is currently slow.
