Update Segment Roles for the collaborator
Modify the collaborator’ Segment permissions whenever project scope or security policies shift.
When to Update
- New sources/destinations need the collaborator’s oversight.
- Engagement scope narrows and the collaborator should reduce permissions.
- SCIM/SSO group mappings change and require role alignment.
- Token or warehouse access requires rotation.
Update Workflow
- Navigate to Settings → Team Members and open the collaborator’s account.
- Change the Workspace Role (Owner, Admin, Member, Read-only) to match the new requirements.
- If granular controls are enabled, adjust the list of sources/destinations under Access Management.
- Save the changes and note the ticket or request ID.
- Notify the collaborator’s engagement lead with a summary of the update.
Validation
- Review the Audit Trail to ensure the change is logged.
- Ask the collaborator to log in and verify visibility aligns with expectations.
- Update your IAM tracker with the modification details, approvals, and date.
Related Tasks
- Rotate any API tokens or warehouse credentials managed by the collaborator’s account.
- Update downstream tools (e.g., reverse ETL, CDPs) that rely on the Segment user for authentication.
- Confirm identity provider groups mirror the new access model if SCIM is active.
