Update Mixpanel Roles for the collaborator
Adjust the collaborator’ Mixpanel permissions whenever project coverage, security requirements, or responsibilities change.
When to Update
- New projects come online and the collaborator should participate in instrumentation or analysis.
- We need elevated rights to manage Lexicon, data management, or integrations.
- Engagement scope narrows and read-only access is sufficient.
- SSO/SCIM group mappings are updated by IT.
Update Workflow
- Go to Organization Settings → Members and open the collaborator’s account.
- Change the Organization Role if needed (Admin vs. Member).
- Edit the list of projects and adjust the role for each project (Admin, Analyst, Viewer).
- Save the changes.
- If SCIM is enabled, ensure the new roles are reflected in your IdP mapping.
- Notify the collaborator’s contact with the update summary.
Validation
- Check the Activity Log to confirm the role change recorded successfully.
- Ask the collaborator to log in and verify the correct projects appear with expected permissions.
- Record the modification in your IAM tracker, including requester, approval, and date.
Related Tasks
- Update service account tokens or ingestion keys if privileges increase.
- Review scheduled alerts or report subscriptions to ensure the collaborator still receives (or no longer receives) notifications.
- Note any dependencies on Mixpanel data pipelines that may require additional Google Cloud or AWS access updates.
