Add a User to Mixpanel
Follow these steps to grant the collaborator access to your Mixpanel organization.
Prerequisites
- Identify the organization and list of projects the collaborator should access.
- Determine the required organization role (Admin vs. Member) and project roles (Admin, Analyst, Viewer).
- If SSO/SCIM is enabled, ensure the user is provisioned in your identity provider.
- Confirm you have Org Admin rights.
Invite the Service Account
- Log into Mixpanel and open Organization Settings → Members.
- Click Invite Members and enter the collaborator’s service account email.
- Choose the appropriate Organization Role. Select Admin if the collaborator will manage billing or SSO, otherwise Member.
- Under Project Access, select each project and assign the correct role (Admin for implementation, Analyst for reporting, Viewer for read-only).
- Send the invite and document the request number in your IAM tracker.
After Inviting
- Monitor the pending invitation until the collaborator accepts.
- Share any MFA, VPN, or login policies with the collaborator.
- Update your access log with the invitation details and role assignments.
Troubleshooting
- Invite not received: Allowlist
@mixpanel.com
and resend. - SSO enforced: Ensure the user is mapped to a Mixpanel role through your IdP before logging in.
- Need temporary access: Set a reminder to remove or downgrade the account at the end of the engagement.
