Mixpanel User Management
Mixpanel permissions span organizations and projects. Use this guide to manage how the collaborator joins, changes, and departs your Mixpanel environments.

- Add User Access explains how to invite the service account and assign project roles.
- Update Access & Roles covers role adjustments when scopes change or new projects launch.
- Remove User Access details the offboarding workflow and documentation requirements.
Roles to Maintain
- Organization Owners/Admins: Manage billing, SSO, and project creation. Keep client ownership primary; grant the collaborator only when required.
- Project Admins: Manage events, lexicon, and integrations. Common role for the collaborator during implementations.
- Analysts/Viewers: Access dashboards and insights. Use when work is limited to analysis.
Governance Checklist
- Track which Mixpanel projects (production, staging, mobile) the collaborator can access.
- Export Mixpanel’s Activity Log after access changes for audit storage.
- Confirm SCIM/SSO group mappings reflect the collaborator’s contractual scope.
- Keep a record of any service accounts or API tokens managed by the collaborator and rotate them on schedule.
